Volunteers' Week: Taking the Next Step

On the final day of Volunteers' Week 2017, here's a great volunteering success story:

Lucy Tomkinson, our Community Reserves Warden, tells us about Tom, one of our conservation volunteers, who used his experience to move on to bigger and better things:

“Tom volunteered with us at the Earth Trust for nearly two years, with both the Land Management Team, coming along to the practical groups in Abingdon, and he also volunteered with the Research and Skills Team carrying out the butterfly transect at Thrupp Lake and hedgerow surveys at a few of the community reserves.

"This spring Tom was successful in getting a 12 month Community Wildlife Traineeship place with the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT). This will give Tom even more practical experience and training that, along with all the volunteering he’s done with us at the Earth Trust, will boost his chances of successfully gaining paid employment in conservation. Tom will be missed but we wish him all the best in this next stage of his adventure into conservation and from all of us we just wanted to say a massive thank you!”
